I am so glad you are here. Welcome!
Hello, I am Rebekah Balch
I am a music enthusiast and enjoy catching a concert near or far. I am an animal lover, and have 3 cats and love to bird watch. When I am not working, you can find me hanging with my family, listening to music or a good audiobook or paperback, bingeing a series (love true crime), or checking out a new restaurant. Like you, I have also struggled with anxiety, and learned tools to manage it and get to where I want to be in life. I know change is possible, and want to offer you the same opportunity.
I love working with folks with non-traditional mindsets. The outsiders, free thinkers, the “geeks”, the folks on the outskirts of mainstream culture. I am subculture and LGBTQ+ affirming. I have experience working with folks who identify with traditional and open, ENM, or POLY relationship styles. I offer a safe and inclusive environment for all!
I started my career in Mental Health as a non traditional student. I have worked at residential and Community Mental Health care clinics, before starting my private practice. In working in these environments, I have had the pleasure of working with people with all sorts of mental health concerns and a variety of functioning levels. I pride myself in the ability to adapt therapy to individual needs of the person.
What’s it like to work with me?
Therapy of any kind can be tough. That is why you are here, to explore some difficult concerns, and work to improve on this. Therapy with me is an active experience. I will ask you many questions to get to know you and get a good understanding of why you are seeking therapy. The first several sessions are the “get to know you” sessions. From there, we will work together to develop and work on a treatment plan tailored to you.
I generally use a combination of CBT, DBT, and schema therapies, with a sprinkle of mindfulness, ACT, and talk therapy. I can be supportive, validating and challenging. I believe therapy does not stop when you leave the office, therefore I have been known to give exercises to be practiced between sessions.
I pride myself in being human and letting my personality show. I use humor when appropriate. I have been told I am pretty “down to earth”. That doesn’t mean I can’t get clinical, but love to break things down in an easy to understand way.
Allow Yourself to Dream
Think about what you want out of life, where you want to be. We will start there and work our way back to what is holding you back. I like to call these the barriers to your dreams. Let’s smash them!
